Bitten by Books

What's Bitten by Books all about then?

Bitten by Books club members live to read!

We enjoy the club because we:

"meet new people"

"get to find out about new books to read"

"read books we never thought we would read"

"can express how we feel about certain books"

and "it's relaxing!"

We meet every Wednesday lunchtime to share our views and would love to welcome other readaholics!

We challenged ourselves to read as many titles on the longlist for the CILIP Carnegie Medal as we can before the shortlist was announced on Tuesday 27 March 2012. Satr reader was Nicola, who has read virtually all the books on the longlist. Before the shortlist was announced, members noted down the books they wanted to see on the shortlist, as well as predicting what might be on the shortlist; we locked away our 'wants' until announcement day and re-read them having opened the golden shortlist envelope.

Check out our page and blog on the Carnegie site for updates and our current favourites as we read and debate the shortlist.

Our first trip of the year

The Bitten by Books Club, together with PSL's team of pupil library assistants, enjoyed a great trip to the Torch Theatre Cinema in Milford Haven to see the film of Michael Morpurgo's fantastic novel, War Horse.  For more information, visit the library's War Horse hotlist of websites. No surprise that War Horse made it to the shortlist of nominees for the Book Oscars in March 2012.

...and others

Excitement was building in the run-up to the release of The Hunger Games - would the film live up to Suzanne Collins' fantastic and thought-provoking book? What would be changed? or missed out? We just had to have another trip to the Torch to see!
