World Book Day

World Book Day 2014

Inter-tutor Group Competition

- a variant on our regular WBD assembly quizzes!

Tutor groups took part in the Inter-Tutor Group Quiz, a great opportunity for a tutor group and their tutor to pool their wits and knowledge and compete with other tutor groups in their yeargroup for a prize to share! Quiz and entry from were on the school network and in the World Book Day pack sent to tutors.

Congratulations to 7B, 8T, 9M, 10P and 12A, winners in their yeargroup!

Shelfie GraphicWhose Shelfie is Whose? Competition:

Members of staff have had great fun taking photos of their bookshelves for a special World Book Day Shelfie Competition.

All shelfies received were entered into a raffle for a prize, with Mr McLoughlin's name being drawn out! The prize for the most creative, judged by PSL regulars, went to Mrs Owen. Congratulations to them both.

On display outside the Library were all the shelfies and a list of all the staff who have provided them! Whose is whose?

Alternatively, pupils and staff could watch this video (shelfies 1-8) and this video (shelfies 9-20) and try to match member of staff to their shelfie!

Special congratulations to Caitlin (Year 8) who identified the owners of the shelfies, and to Ms Payne and Mrs Galvin, who successfully identified most of their colleagues' shelfies!

Pupil shelfies were on display inside the Library too! Some were created at home, some in special photo shoots in the Library - we provided the books, the shelf and the camera, pupils provided themselves and their imaginations!

Spot the Book Title Competition:

Pupils and staff rose to the challenge to seek out as many staff wearing books (in the form of badges with book titles on). They also gained extra points by adding or finding out the author's name.

Congratulations to Evan, Morgan, Naomi, Eliza and Elleigh (all Year 7) who tracked down 59 book titles - and added their authors! Runners-up were Lauren and Mair (Year 7) and Tony (also Year 7).

Robert Muchamore live:

Two Year 9 music classes with Ms Page and Mrs Hughes enjoyed a live interview with Robert Muchamore, streamed to us in the Library. Pupils browsed copies of Robert's CHERUB series and placed reservations on the hot-off-the-press Library copy of Rock War, his latest novel. Copies of Rock War: The Audition were available for them to exchange for their £1 tokens, some winning a copy of their own in the raffle.

A huge thank you to all pupils and staff taking part in any of the events! Once again, Pembroke staff support has been fantastic.
