The term has got off to a flying start with exciting visits, activities and competitions lined up for the coming months.
The Bitten by Books Club, together with PSL's team of pupil library assistants, will be off to the Torch Theatre Cinema in Milford Haven soon to see the film of Michael Morpurgo's fantastic novel, War Horse. For more information, visit the library's War Horse hotlist of websites. They're also working their way through as many novels on the Carnegie longlist as possible before the shortlist announcement on Tuesday 27 March. Which is your favourite?
Pembroke School Doctor Who Club regulars meanwhile have a new page on the website to add all the latest info about their activities. The first meeting back was naturally a chance to discuss the Christmas special, The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe; the episode was a big hit with most members. Solving the fiendish episode, villain, character and actor anagrams set by Mrs S required extra Jammie Dodgers! Hand your quiz in next time - goodies up for grabs.
Don't forget too that the Doctor has heard about the club and thinks it's 'brilliant'. He wants more pupils to know about its brilliance - so he has set a creative Christmas competition to design a poster to advertise the club more widely.
We're celebrating our school library and all kinds of libraries everywhere on National Libraries Day ! Find out what your library is doing. Follow what's been going on with #NLD12

Throughout the week: competitions and on the spot prizes to be won! Identify the Book Jacket competitions, divided into three sections - Years 7 and 8, Years 9 to Sixth Form and Staff; feel free to enter whichever you choose - or all three! Book jackets can be found in the Canteen, in the Library and on the school network. An ideal activity to fill
registration time or to have a go at while in the canteen queue! All entries should be handed in or sent to the Library by Wednesday 8 February 2012.
Add an 'I love my school library because...' slip to the 'We love our school library' tree. A selection of your comments to follow here shortly.
We hope to see as many pupils and staff as possible popping in during the week to take part in an event, check their competition entries, browse, borrow, discover something new, sign up for a club and just enjoy their school library!
Take a look at the trailer on our Screen Reads page.
If you haven't yet read them, get down to your Library and read the series!
This week's English and Welsh words are:
miasma
llipa
Thanks to Levi and Jake for this week's words!
Tell us what either or both words mean and you can choose a word for next week!

I pray no child of mine should ever descend into such a place as a Library. They are indeed most dangerous places and unfortunate is she or he who is lured into such a hellhole of enjoyment, stimulus, facts, passion and fun.
